NSB is NTPC School of Business, which was founded by NTPC Limited as its extended arm to excel in the field of academics and facilitates the entire value chain in the energy sector.
NTPC limited is a public sector utility of Gov. of India established in 1975. NTPC is an industry leader power generation in India with generating more than 53,000 megawatt which is approximately 1/4th of the country. In short, every 4th bulb of India is lit by NTPC.
In 2014, NTPC created NTPC Education & Research society (NEARS) with a view to excel in academic areas and creating leaders in energy sector. Under (NEARS), NTPC School of Business was formed.
NTPC and IIMA have collaborated with each other as a benchmark in industry-academia interface. Therefore, the best mix of academics and industry experience will be delivered by IIMA & NSB.
IIMA is the leading academic institute not only in India but it has global repute. IIMA was set up in 1961 which provides education, training, consulting and research in management. It is the first Indian Business School to have European quality improvement system (EQUIS) accreditation that certifies the IIMA’s academic processes and programs at par with the best business schools globally.
In NSB, two specialised programs are offered:
- PGDM (E) -15 months full time residential program.
- PGDM (EM) – 2 years full time residential program.
AICTE is statutory technical body of Gov. of India, which is responsible for affiliation and approval of all technical and management courses.
NTPC & IIMA both will facilitate internship and placement with the help of various industry tie ups.
Working executives, and all open candidates who plan to pursue their career in power/oil/energy sector in India and abroad having following educational qualifications:
The candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree (10+2+3 stream), like B.E./ B.Tech. / B.Sc./B.Com./CA/ICWA etc., with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (in case of the candidate belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Differently Abled (DA) or Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category, this is relaxed to 45%), from any of the recognised universities.
A candidate appearing for the final year bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed the degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply. (This will be subjected to candidate fulfilment of above criteria latest by 31 August 2018).
Valid scores of CAT/GMAT/XAT are sufficient to apply for these programs. However, candidates who do not have any scores can also apply and have to appear for online test conducted by NSB/IIMA.
No, the college does not offer any EMI options. However, NSB can facilitate candidates to link with banks for applying for educational loans.

Various time to time activities are conducted from NTPC and NTPC School of Business on different occasions like: International days celebrations (Environment day, Earth’s Day, Yoga Day, etc.) and various cultural programs like Student’s plays, skits, cultural nights are organised.

Complete program fees for PGDM (E) is Rs 15,00,000/- and for PGDM (EM)is Rs 16,00,000/- excluding security amount of Rs 30,000/-
The main reason why postgraduate courses are named as PGDM is because when an Institute is an autonomous body (not affiliated to any University) and conducts management courses, then such Institutes cannot offer MBA degree. Even IIM’s, XLRI’s don’t offer MBA degrees; they only give PGP.
At the end of PGP and PGDM course, candidates are offered a Diploma. However, at the end of an MBA program, candidates receive a degree.

As the course curriculum is designed by IIMA and significant part of course will be delivered by IIMA including IIMA’s director. The level of rigour could be sense by the samed.
60 is the intake capacity of PGDM (E) and 120 is the intake capacity of PGDM (EM).
No. You have to apply for either of course based on eligibility.

PGDM (EM) is maiden program of NSB. There is a high growth in energy sector. So placement avenues for passing out candidates are very bright. School will take all efforts for their placements.

NSB was formed in 2015 and the move was welcomed by entire energy sector. That is why IIMA has tied up with NSB. An institute can only apply for ranking system after three years of establishment.

Significant part of program (60%) will be delivered by IIMA and rest will be delivered by industry experts and NSB faculty members.
It is a refundable advance, which will be returned on the completion of courses based upon the NOCS of the candidates.
NSB has versatile library facilities with more than 17,000 hard copies of books, with other facilities like e-books, e-journals, DELNET and ProQuest etc.
NSB has two hostels, both the hostels have common room facilities, all indoor games, Badminton Court, Table Tennis, Billiards, Lawn tennis, Swimming Pool, Yoga Room, and Gym. Whole campus is Wi-Fi enabled.
Both the hostels have three number of established mess that is being run by ICH (Indian Coffee House), which is a catering partner of NTPC.
Both the hostels have well furnished rooms with all amenities (Air conditioning, Geyser, Cupboard, Study tables, Beds and attached washrooms) and other recreation facilities.

It is a trimester system. Hence PGDM (E) will consists of 05 trimesters in 15 months program, while PGDM (EM) will consist of 08 trimesters in two year duration.
